ORWES / Material selection

Choose materials with the whole space in mind

Compare building materials by application, finish, maintenance and installation requirements, and record sample approvals before placing an order.

01

Define the application before the appearance

Record where the material will be used, how the space will be maintained and the conditions it will be exposed to. Those requirements guide the questions you ask about performance, installation and care.

Compare the proposed product documentation with the project brief. Do not assume that similar-looking products have the same characteristics or that a document for one model applies to another.

02

Review finishes together

Bring adjacent surfaces and fixtures into the same sample review. Look at colour, texture and finish under lighting relevant to the project. Label each approved sample with the product reference, supplier and date so that the decision can be traced later.

03

Confirm before committing

Keep the approved specification, samples and quotation together. Confirm inclusions, exclusions, quantities, packaging and delivery responsibilities in writing. A sample can help establish appearance; it does not replace the product information and project checks needed for the intended application.

When a decision changes, update the schedule and drawings before the next stage. Ask the relevant project professional to review installation requirements and applicable product documentation.
